Council Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1271 of 29 April 2024 implementing Regulation (EC) No 1183/2005 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

On 29 April 2024, the Council of the European Union decided to amend Annex I and Annex Ia to Regulation (EC) No 1183/2005 by updating the information pertaining to two persons included in the list of natural and legal persons, entities and bodies in Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 1183/2005 since the United Nations Security Council has made available further information about them

On 2 May 2024 the Security Council Sanctions Committee issued a clarification regarding the adoption of resolution 2667 (2022). The armed and security forces of the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo are exempt from the embargo on the supply of military equipment and assistance. In light of the above-mentioned, banks, shipowners, carriers, financial institutions, and firms operating in the military field are reminded, through their respective Member States, that there are no restrictions to working with the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the provision of military equipment, arms, and related materiel, or any provision of assistance, advice or training related to military activities to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in a timely manner
